Preparation of the substrate

Concrete, plaster and asbestos cement should be 4–6 weeks old by the time the painting work begins. The substrate must be clean, dry, grease-free, grippy and stable; loose and crumbling layers must be removed. Concrete and cement plaster must still have sufficient absorbency to ensure adhesion. Any cement paste or sinter layers on the surface must be removed by sandblasting or mechanical roughening. It is best to clean contaminated concrete surfaces by brushing them with an active cleaner such as Jaeger Special Cleaner 080. Then wash with plenty of water or a steam cleaner. Finally, allow the surfaces to dry thoroughly. For deep-seated contamination, appropriate remediation measures should be taken. Adverse effects of moisture on the rear side (groundwater) impair adhesion.

Plastic: Due to the wide variety of plastics, we always recommend a preliminary test.

Steel: Remove rust and grease and prime with Multigrund 715, Multigrund Spray 714 or Aqua Multigrund 716.

Old coatings: Clean and sand down and check for compatibility and adhesion (test coat).

Floor coating: Prime untreated floors in advance with Special Primer Resin 864.
